Who Needs a Fire Alarm?

Did you know that as of 1st October 2006 it is compulsory for all UK organisations to carry out a fire risk assessment?

All types of premises must have completed a fire risk assessment. These include: Offices, shops. factories, warehouses, sleeping accommodation, residential care premises, educational premises, places of assembly such as a social club, restaurants and transport premises such as busses. Even if your workplace is out doors such as a building site you must carry out a fire risk assessment. As you can see all types of workplace require a fire risk assessment.

The Reform (Fire Safety) Order came into force on 1st October 2006, it covers general fire precautions and other safety duties which are needed to protect persons in case of fire. As an aid a HM Government publication, 'A Short Guide To Making Your Premises Safe From Fire' is available offering practical advice for addressing fire safety responsibilities and carrying out a fire risk assessment.

As a result of completing your risk assessment you may have evaluated there is a requirement for a fire alarm system at your property.
